The center will start the COVID-19 vaccination campaign from March 16 for the age group of 12 to 14 years. The Central Government, after much deliberation with scientific bodies, has decided to start the Corona Vaccination Campaign for the age group of 12-14 years from March 16. Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Monday announced by tweeting that the vaccination of children between 12 and 14 years will start from March 16.
The Health Minister tweeted, “Children are safe, the country is safe! I am happy to inform that from March 16, COVID vaccination for children in the age group of 12 to 13 and 13 to 14 is starting. Also everyone in the age group of 60+ is now taking precautions. Will be able to get the dose. I urge the families of the children and people in the age group of 60+ to get the vaccine done.”

Official sources told PTI that the age group of 12 to 14 years will be vaccinated with Biologic ES Corbovax. There is information that the National Technical Advisory Group on Vaccination (NTAGI) has recommended the introduction of vaccination for this age group.
The vaccination campaign against Corona across the country started on 16 January last year. India began giving precautionary doses of the COVID-19 vaccine from January 10 this year to health care workers, frontline workers and people aged 60 and above, including those on election duty.

In view of the increasing cases of Omicron variants of corona virus in the country, it was decided to give a precautionary dose. India started vaccination for the age group of 15-18 years from 3 January. Until now, children were given Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin shots.
According to the data of the Union Health Ministry, 3,37,70,605 children between 15 and 18 years have been given the second dose. Last week, Biologicals E applied for Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) for its Covid-19 vaccine Corbevax for the age group of 5-12 years.
