Pimpri: Due to rising fuel prices, citizens are increasingly turning to eco-friendly vehicles. In the last one year, there has been an increase in about 3,000 e-motorcycle registrations in the city. The number of registrations has almost quadrupled in the last one year as compared to the year 2020. At the same time, the registration of electric cars has increased five times.
Pimpri Chinchwad Sub-Regional Transport Office has so far registered 7,133 electric vehicles like e-motorcycle, e-car, e-three wheeler tempo. This includes the registration of 6,389 e-motorcycles. In 2019, only 453 electric motorcycles were registered. In 2020, this number increased to 1,020, while in the year 2021, 3,977 e-motorcycles have been registered. In other words, there has been an increase in the registration of 2,957 motorcycles during this year. Registration has quadrupled in 2021 as compared to 2020. 480 e-motorcycles have been registered in the last 21 days.

Registration of electric cars also increased
The Sub-Regional Transport Office has registered 478 electric cars. Although the number of electric car registrations is low, but the number of registrations has increased five times in 2021 as compared to 2020. In 2020, only 67 electric cars were registered. And in 2021, 320 electric cars were registered. In the last 21 days, 10 electric cars have been registered. In 2019, no electric three wheeler tempo (freight) was recorded. 81 electric three wheeler tempos were recorded in 2020.
