new Delhi: After 11,499 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in India in a day, the total number of infected in the country increased to 4,29,05,844. At the same time, the number of patients under treatment has come down to 1,21,881. According to the updated data released by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare at 8 am on Saturday, the death toll in the country rose to 5,13,481 after 255 more people died of infection.
At present, 1,21,881 people are undergoing treatment for corona virus infection in the country, which is 0.28 percent of the total cases. In the last 24 hours, there was a decrease in the number of patients under treatment by 12,354. The national recovery rate of patients has increased to 98.52 percent. As per the updated data, the daily rate of infection was recorded at 1.01 per cent and the weekly rate at 1.36 per cent. A total of 4,22,70,482 people have become infection free in the country so far and the death rate from COVID-19 is 1.20 percent.
At the same time, more than 177.13 crore doses of anti-Covid-19 vaccines have been given so far under the nationwide vaccination campaign. It is noteworthy that on 7 August 2020, the number of infected in the country had exceeded 20 lakh, on 23 August 2020, 30 lakh and on 5 September 2020, more than 40 lakh. The total cases of infection crossed 50 lakh on 16 September 2020, 60 lakh on 28 September 2020, 70 lakh on 11 October 2020, 80 lakh on 29 October 2020 and 90 lakh on 20 November. On 19 December 2020, these cases had crossed one crore in the country. Last year, on May 4, the number of infected had crossed 20 million and on June 23, 2021, crossed 30 million. On January 26 this year, the cases crossed four crores.

According to ministry data, 255 cases of death due to infection were reported in the country in the last 24 hours. Of these, 177 patients died in Kerala while 15 people died in Karnataka due to the epidemic. According to the data, a total of 5,13,481 people have died due to COVID-19 in the country so far, out of which 1,43,687 in Maharashtra, 64,980 in Kerala, 39,900 in Karnataka, 38,000 in Tamil Nadu, 26,117 in Delhi, 23,447 in Uttar Pradesh. And there were 21,169 people from West Bengal.
The Health Ministry said that out of those who have died due to corona virus infection so far, more than 70 percent of the patients also had other diseases. The ministry said on its website that its data is being matched with the data of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).
