Jaipur. Former Deputy Chief Minister of Rajasthan Sachin Pilot on Monday expressed confidence that the performance of Congress will be very good in the upcoming assembly elections in other states including Uttar Pradesh and Punjab. “It has become clear that the BJP is losing ground in Uttar Pradesh. In other places, the Congress will do much better,” Pilot told reporters here.
He said, “I had gone to Uttarakhand four-five days ago and even there people have made up their mind to bid farewell to the Dhami government. Even after campaigning so much in Goa, the Trinamool Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) are not in competition even far and wide.”
Referring to the announcement of Charanjit Singh Channi as the “face” of the Congress’s chief minister’s post in Punjab, Pilot said, “For the first time, the party has put forth a clear opinion about it before the voters. It has sent a very good impression, message among the workers in the party.”
Responding to a question on political appointments in Rajasthan, Pilot said those who have worked for the party will have to be rewarded and honoured. “Can’t give every person a minister or a big post but we can include them and ensure their participation,” he said.
He said, “It is necessary so that there is enthusiasm among the workers because there is an election in Rajasthan only after 19-20 months and it is very important to win this election.”

He said that the convention of ‘Once Congress-One time BJP’ has to be broken in Rajasthan. The Congress leader said, “In the recent two-three months, we… Sonia Gandhi, Congress organization… have taken some steps in the right direction. I am confident that when the assembly elections are held in December 2023, the Congress party will again be able to form the government here.
Pilot said on the ongoing controversy over the Reet exam paper leak episode, “Government, party is taking this very seriously and I have a feeling that very soon some concrete action will also come out in this.”
On the incident of Congress workers showing black flags to BJP state president Satish Poonia in Bundi, Pilot said, “I don’t think violence, misbehavior, undemocratic language should be used by any person… This is not a tradition especially in Rajasthan.” However, ever since the BJP came to power at the Centre, an aggressive politics has started. Creating conflict among themselves, doing politics of vendetta, misusing investigative agencies has come to the fore. (agency)
