Aam Aadmi Party leader Bhagwant Mann has taken oath as the Chief Minister of Punjab. This oath-taking ceremony took place in Khatkar Kalan, the village of Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh. Earlier, a tweet by Congress MP and former minister Manish Tewari surfaced, in which he posted a picture of the invitation letter for Mann’s swearing-in ceremony.
Former Union Minister Manish Tewari shared the picture of the invitation letter, and wrote that it is ironic that he was not invited to the swearing-in of former Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, however, he was one of my MLAs.
He further thanked Bhagwant Mann for the invitation and also apologized for not being able to attend the program due to the ongoing session of Parliament.
Tiwari wrote in a tweet, “I congratulate Bhagwant Mann on being sworn in as Chief Minister. I thank him for inviting me to his swearing-in. I will not be able to attend as Parliament is in session. This irony. It is that I was not invited to the swearing-in ceremony of Charanjit Singh Channi. However, he was one of my MLAs.”

Manish Tewari is part of G-23
Significantly, Tiwari is part of the ‘G-23’ group of rebel Congress leaders, who are demanding reforms in the party. In 2020, Tiwari, Kapil Sibal, Anand Sharma, Ghulam Nabi Azad and other big leaders wrote to Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi demanding change.

“The over-centralization and micro-management of the organization has always proved to be counter-productive. The party has seen a steady decline in election results in 2014 and 2019 and there were several reasons behind this,” the letter read.
