Nashik: The tradition of issuing club tenders to the contractors who get financial benefits has started in the Municipal Corporation. This ring meant for big contractors is ruining small contractors. Regarding this, the Nashik District Contractors Organization has filed a public interest litigation in the High Court against the Municipal Corporation.
Had separate tenders been floated for different works, the Municipal Corporation would have saved Rs 150 crore, the organization has claimed. Under the rule, in order to get the big contractors who get financial benefits for the road work, the construction department of the Municipal Corporation had issued a tender for road works worth Rs 260 crore in the month of December last year. The names of 10 companies came out after the tender was floated. The special thing is that while aggregating the work, the tender came at a rate of 20 to 25 percent more than the ringing. Had the independent tender of each work been made famous, then the tender would have come at a lower rate due to competition. Also, instead of one company, many small contractors would get work.

The Municipal Corporation could have saved Rs 50 to 60 crores, but the financial loss was done to the big contractors to get the work done. A memorandum was submitted to the Municipal Corporation Kailash Jadhav in this regard. But no action was taken. It then used the same method, issuing tenders worth Rs 245 crore in November and Rs 195 crore in December this year. Such an allegation was made by the Nashik District Contractors Organization. Had separate tenders been issued, there would have been no loss to the Municipal Corporation and small contractors would have got the job. Ajinkya Jayabhave of the organization has filed a public interest litigation in the High Court against the Municipal Corporation for ringing in three tenders. N. Of. Verma, M.G. Nair, Gajanan Construction, Pekhle Infrastructure, Vinod Luthra, B. R. Chopra, Pawar-Patkar, B. P. Sangle, B. T. Kadlag, Aakar Construction, Anand Construvel etc. are being given contracts time and again.
Threatening to go to court
In the first tender process of Rs 260 crore, R. MK. Infrastructure company was declared ineligible. Therefore the company has appealed to the court. After this, the company which will go to the court against the municipal corporation is being threatened not to give work.
