- need to be taken out of paper
- Cotton Market, Yashwant Stadium, Railway Station, Gol Bazar, Subhash Market will be good
Nagpur. The bosses of the functioning of the metro were very happy. There was talk of handing over all the big plots of the city to the metro and redeveloping it, but even after years have passed, these projects are limited to paper only. Due to delay in land transfer and other works, the metro train is not able to move ahead.
Cotton Market, Yashwant Stadium, Railway Station, Gaddigodam, Netaji Subhash Market, Patwardhan Maidan were shown dreams of making luxurious markets, malls, markets, multiplexes and not knowing what to do. So far nothing is visible. For Patwardhan Maidan, the bidding has been taken out 2-3 times so far but the bidders are not coming. After this Metro again revised the plan and invited fresh bids so that some mid-range companies could also take interest. However, even in this Metro did not get success. Here also lakhs of square meters are to be constructed.
Cotton Market: Rs 2,000 crore project
There was talk of giving the work of development of cotton market, vacant land adjacent to railway track and orange market to Metro. Some plots have also been found but the rest of the matter is still stuck in the court of the Municipal Corporation. A magnificent structure has also been prepared for about 13 acres of land. It will also have a market, a bus stand and commercial space in high-rise buildings. The design has been ready over the years. The matter has not progressed beyond this. It is estimated that about Rs 2,000 crore is to be spent on this project.
Yashwant Stadium: Plan of more than 1,000 crores
Metro was also entrusted with the responsibility of redevelopment of Yashwant Stadium. A great design of this project is also ready. Along with parking for 5,000 cars, the plan to build a shopping mall, multiplex, commercial space, ground here was also finalized. Meetings also took place. The foster minister also showed interest. After this the matter remained there there. Around Rs 1,000-1,200 crore was estimated to be spent on this project as well.
Gol Bazar, Netaji Bazar and others
Metro is also responsible for the development work of Gol Bazar at Gadigodam, Netaji Market at Birdi, plots located near railways. All these lands have been handed over to the Metro. The roadmap for construction has also been prepared. But the matter has gone cold.
8,000-1,0000 crores total works
All in all, works worth about Rs 8,000 to 10,000 crore were given to the metro. Certainly, with the investment of 8-10 thousand crores, where the city’s beauty would increase, people would also get new options. But for more than 3 years, all the projects have not been worked on.
lack of coordination
Even now, there is a clear lack of coordination in many projects. One agency looks curious, while the other agency’s executives get disheartened. Due to lack of coordination, development work is stalling. People are eager to see the dreams which were shown to the public 3-4 years ago, but they are feeling only disappointment in their hands. These are all such projects, which were going to be built in the prime area of the city. Due to being a prime area, their importance was also enough, but now there is no talk about these projects.
lack of demand
In fact, till now the lack of demand is also being felt in Nagpur. Bids are being invited regularly for the commercial space developed by Metro at Metro stations so far. A round of meetings is being organized to make people aware. Despite this, people are not ready to take space inside the stations yet. This is the reason why the priority of making Zero Mile, Sitabardi station over the present 4-5 goods has also been shelved, while it was proposed to make them 20-20 goods. Till the demand does not increase, it seems impossible for these buildings to reach 20-20 floors.
