Durgapur, The BGR Small Contractors Association sat on a dharna from 7 December 2021 at the Major Gate of CTPS for the outstanding amount of Rs 5.78 crore on behalf of BGR for the last three years. After getting assurance from Mahagenco, the strike movement has been postponed from the evening of 6 January.
Mahagenco has assured BGR Small Contractors Association that the amount due to the agitating contractors will be given to BGR and BGR Energy will give it to all of you. One month is needed for this. After this, the 31-day sit-in agitation has been postponed after the assurance of Mahagenko.
It is to be known that during the picketing agitation of the contractors, former Minister of State for Home Hansraj Ahir and former foster minister and MLA of the area Sudhir Mungantiwar had presented the protest movement at different times and dates and they had assured that on behalf of BGR Energy Will help in every way to get the outstanding amount along with interest.
Apart from this, the contractors had also raised their demand by visiting MahaGenco’s office in Mumbai. Small contractors have clarified that the strike has been postponed for a month and not ended. Hopefully we will get all our dues in a month. If money is not given just for some reason, then we will sit on the strike again.
During the construction of unit number 8 and 9 of CTPS, the small contractors working under BGR Energy between 2012 and 2018 owes Rs.6 crore. The company did not give the dues of the contractors even after the lapse of 3 years after the work was stopped. In view of this, Small Contractors sat on a sit-in agitation at Major Gate from December 7.
