Panaji: The Congress and the BJP are putting their efforts to win the Goa Assembly Elections. Both the leaders are taking different avenues to create trouble against each other. In this sequence, on Wednesday, the Congress stood in front of the Goa government by giving ticket to his father and former chief minister Pratap Singh Rane from Porim constituency to give competition to Health Minister Vishwajit Singh Rane. Is done.
Pratapsinh Rane, 83, who was the former Chief Minister of Goa, is counted among the big leaders of the Congress. He is the longest serving MLA of the state. He has won 10 assembly elections since 1972. Pratap Singh also holds the record of serving as the Chief Minister of the state for less than 16 years in six terms between 1980 and 2007.

son warns father
Pratap Singh Rane is the father of BJP leader and minister in the state government Vishwajit Rane. Rane has been reaching the assembly from 2007 to 2017 by winning elections on a Congress ticket from Balpoi seat. But in 2017, expressing displeasure against the Congress high command, Vishwajit Huye left the Congress and joined the BJP and became a minister in the Manohar Parrikar government.
On the announcement of his father to contest the election, Rane advised his father Pratapsinh Rane to leave politics. If Pratapsinh did not heed his advice, Vishwajeet said, he would contest the election against him and warned that it would be ‘very messy’.
It is to be known that Vishwajit Rane, who contested from Balpoi seat, had announced to contest from his father’s traditional seat Porim in the 2022 assembly elections.
Important Political Family of Goa
The Rane family has been considered a very important family in Goa’s politics. This family has a very strong hold on many seats in the Goa Legislative Assembly. Pratap Singh Rane has been elected MLA for 10 consecutive times from Porim constituency. The Porim and Balpoi seats adjoining Karnataka are considered the family seats of the Rane family.
