Wardha. District Magistrate Prerna Deshbhratar has come into action mode regarding strict loan recovery from farmers. Due to the complaints of loan recovery, committees have been formed at village and tehsil level. This committee will take action on the grievances of farmers by holding meetings every month. Every year the farmer takes loan from banks for Kharif and Rabi crops. But due to natural calamity and other reasons, the farmer is not able to pay the loan on time, due to which the bank is harassed by sending notices to the farmers for strict recovery of the loan, repeatedly sending messages on the phone or mobile. In the last four years, due to various natural calamities, there has been a decrease in the yield. This past year also, cotton crop along with soybean crop was affected due to bond worm and khod worm.
Bank management is worried about the arrears
As a result, the farmers had suffered a major economic setback due to a sharp fall in the yield of the crop. This year also, due to the attack of Bond worm on cotton crop and the arrival of fog and virus on tur crop, there has been a decrease in yield, which has also made it difficult for the farmers to meet the expenses. For the last two years, due to continuous farming becoming a loss deal, farmers have not been able to pay the bank loans. So many farmers are being harassed continuously by the banks due to non-receipt of loan waiver and due to bank balance.
Farmers have increased complaints with the District Magistrate
Due to repeated harassment by the bank for recovery of loan, many farmers in the district have taken a step like suicide after getting upset. At the same time, some farmers have complained to the District Magistrate in this regard. As a result, the District Magistrate has constituted a committee at the village and tehsil level as per the instructions of the government.
Sarpanch and Tehsildar will be the chairman of the committee
In a letter issued on Friday, the District Magistrate has entrusted the responsibility of the chairman of the village level committee to the sarpanch. Patwari, Village Secretary and Agriculture Assistant will be members in the committee. Tehsildar will be the chairman of the Tehsil level committee. In the Tehsil Committee, the Group Development Officer, the Thanedar, the Agriculture Officer will be the members and the Assistant Registrar will be the Secretary of the Co-operative Society.
Village committee will give report to Tehsil committee
It has been made mandatory for the committee to take a meeting of the committee in the first week of every month. This committee will send the matter to the Tehsil committee as the village committee is empowered to deal with the complaints received by the farmers. Tehsil committee will take further action in the matter.
