The accused killer of a Brockton nurse whose physique was left at Boston Logan International Airport has been indicted on a homicide cost, based on the Suffolk District Attorney’s Office.
Kevin Kangethe, a 40-year-old Lowell man who’s at the moment in a Kenyan jail, is accused of fatally stabbing 31-year-old Whitman girl Margaret Mbitu. She was discovered lifeless in a automotive within the central storage on the Boston airport in November.
Kangethe had already boarded a flight to Kenya on the time her physique was discovered.
The alleged killer has now been indicted on a homicide cost. A Suffolk County grand jury on Tuesday returned a homicide indictment in opposition to him.
After Kangethe was initially captured in Kenya, he escaped from a Kenyan police station. Then, he was recaptured on Feb. 14.
Kangethe is at the moment in a Nairobi jail, and is predicted to bear extradition proceedings in a Kenyan courtroom within the coming weeks.
“Suffice it to say, this has been a custody process with many twists and turns,” Suffolk District Attorney Kevin Hayden stated in an announcement. “Along with Margaret Mbitu’s family and friends, we are hoping that the extradition process proceeds in a smooth and timely manner.”
Hayden added, “This indictment makes clear that upon his return to Boston Kevin Kangethe will answer in Superior Court for the brutal killing of Maggie Mbitu, a nurse who cared deeply about so many and who was deeply loved by many in return.”
