new Delhi: Ahead of taking oath as the Chief Minister of Punjab, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Bhagwant Mann on Wednesday said that entire Punjab will take oath to fulfill the dreams of Bhagat Singh and Babasaheb Ambedkar. All preparations have been completed for Mann’s swearing-in ceremony at Khatkar Kalan village in Shaheed Bhagat Singh (SBS) Nagar district of Punjab. It is the native village of freedom fighter Bhagat Singh. Mann tweeted in Punjabi, “The golden ray of sun has brought a new dawn today. To fulfill the dreams of Bhagat Singh and Babasaheb, the whole of Punjab will take oath today in Khatkar Kalan village. ,
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and other senior party leaders will also attend the swearing-in ceremony. Kejriwal tweeted, “Today is a big day for Punjab. On this golden morning of new hope, today the whole of Punjab will come together and take a pledge to make a prosperous Punjab. I too have left for Khatkar Kalan, the native village of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, to witness that historic moment. AAP’s Punjab in-charge Raghav Chadha tweeted, “Today is an important day in the history of Punjab, as three crore people of Punjab will take oath along with Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.”
“People will take oath to change this corrupt system and fulfill the dreams of Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh and Babasaheb Ambedkar, from today every Punjabi will be a chief minister,” he said. Chadha shared a picture of himself wearing a yellow turban on Twitter. Harjot Bains, newly elected MLA from Anandpur Sahib said, “Today will be a new beginning for Punjab. Together we will fulfill the dreams of Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh, this will be a true tribute to our martyrs.

Aam Aadmi Party supporters from many places of the state started reaching Khatkar Kalan on Wednesday morning to attend the swearing-in ceremony. Men wore yellow turbans and women were seen wearing yellow dupatta. “We want to congratulate Bhagwant Mann and the whole of Punjab,” a party supporter told Shutrana. While leaving Mohali for Khatkar Kalan, some of his supporters showered flowers on his vehicle and congratulated him.
Bhagwant Mann (48) had invited the people of the state to attend the swearing-in ceremony. He says that three crore people of Punjab will take oath with him. Tight security arrangements have been made for the function and several senior officials including Inspector General and Senior Superintendents of Police have been deployed for the event. Officials said that around eight to 10 thousand security personnel have been deployed for the ceremony. AAP has won 92 seats out of 117 seats in the Punjab Assembly. (agency)
