Lucknow: National Rural Livelihoods has greatly improved the standard of living of rural women of the state. In Uttar Pradesh, women are directly getting benefits from various schemes under Mission Shakti Abhiyan as well as State Rural Livelihood Mission. Through self-help groups in the state, women are joining the mainstream of employment and supporting their families. During the Corona period, these self-help groups prepared masks and PPE kits on a large scale along with organizing awareness programs at the village level in the state.
In the year 20-21, 1.23 crore masks were produced by 20,386 members of SHGs, 50,714 PPE kits by 1,223 members and 19,921 liters of sanitizer by 559 members. So far this year, more than 15 lakh masks have been manufactured by the women of the group.

Providing new employment opportunities
State Rural Livelihood Mission’s mission director Bhanu Goswami informed that by giving information about the beneficial schemes of the state government to the rural women, new opportunities of employment are being provided to them by connecting them with small cottage business. Due to which now those women are working with them to make the women around them self-reliant.

Under the mission, masks were provided to the staff of Police Department, Health Department, Panchayati Raj Department, Vikas Bhawan and other departments on behalf of the women of Self Help Groups. The manufacturing of masks is earning an average monthly income of Rs 6000 per member of the group. Under the mission to make women self-reliant, more than 01 lakh 98 thousand members of self-help groups have been provided loans in the direction of livelihood.
