- Experienced doctors will do teleconsult
- The burden from big hospitals will be less
Mumbai: Mumbaikars will now have less need to visit major hospitals like KEM, Sion, Nair and Cooper Hospitals, as the Mumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has announced to start 100 Hindu Hriday Samrat Balasaheb Thackeray Health Care Centers in the budget. The burden of patients is increasing in 4 major hospitals and medical colleges of BMC. Even for small problems, patients have to go to big hospitals, due to which these hospitals are overcrowded. This is the reason why the quality of treatment is decreasing and the burden on health workers is increasing. This problem has persisted for many years, in view of this, BMC has decided to strengthen its dispensary itself.
Additional BMC commissioner Suresh Kakani said that it has been decided to convert some dispensaries of BMC into HBT centers and build some new ones. In these centers, 139 types of tests, including X-rays, CT scans and mammography, will also be conducted for major investigations. At present, patients have to make rounds of suburban hospitals and medical colleges for the above tests.

bmc will tie up with private lab
BMC will tie up with private labs, so that tests will be done near the house at affordable rates. The specialty of these centers would be that tele-consulting would be done by experienced doctors from KEM, Sion, Nair and Cooper Hospitals and Medical Colleges. Meaning the doctors whom patients run to big hospitals for consultation, now they themselves will consult them online. Not only will the patient’s time and money be saved, as well as the burden of increasing rush of patients from big hospitals will also be reduced.
Patients will get relief
As a result, the patient will get quality treatment. BMC has mentioned to start 100 more HBT centers in the second phase. In the budget, BMC has made a provision of Rs 250 crore for the above centers in the year 2022-23. Former Director of BMC Hospitals Dr. Avinash Soupe said that this center will not only reduce the problem of patients, but will also provide relief to a great extent from the increasing burden on the hospitals.
