Pune: The orgy of Corona (Maharashtra Omicron Updates) continues in Maharashtra. On Friday, more than eight thousand new cases of corona have been reported in the state. Amidst all this, the worst situation is in Mumbai. More than five thousand new cases of corona have been registered in Mumbai. Maharashtra Deputy CM Ajit Pawar has spoken on the speculation of lockdown due to COVID orgy in the state. He said that so far more than 10 ministers and at least 20 MLAs have been found infected with the corona virus in the state and strict restrictions may be imposed if new cases of COVID-19 continue to rise. The new cases reported on Friday were 50 percent more than the new cases reported on Thursday.
“We have recently shortened the assembly session,” he told reporters after visiting the Jaystambh memorial in Perne village to mark the 204th anniversary of the Koregaon-Bhima war. When asked about the possibility of imposing more restrictions, Pawar replied that the state government was monitoring the increasing number of patients. “If the number of patients continues to rise, strict restrictions will be imposed. Every person should follow the rules to avoid stringent restrictions.” The daily cases of corona virus infection in Maharashtra have been increasing continuously for the last 12 days.
The Maharashtra government has limited the number of people gathering for gatherings in open or closed places to 50 in view of the increase in cases in the state. On Friday, 5,631 new cases of corona virus infection were reported in Mumbai. An increase of 53 percent has been registered in new cases of infection as compared to the previous day. With the arrival of new cases, the total number of infected in Mumbai has increased to 7,85,110.
Pawar said the government had recently said that land could be acquired for redevelopment of the memorial (Jaystambh) to facilitate the lakhs of people who come every year to pay tribute on the anniversary of the Koregaon-Bhima war. He said that a committee has been constituted to take further steps in the matter. (with agency input)
