Passport can also be made from post office
It is mandatory to have a passport to go abroad. Till now, one had to apply for passport in various Passport Seva Kendras operated by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) across the country, but now another facility has been given for the convenience of the people. Under which you can easily get a passport made from your nearest post offices ie Post Office. For this, you have to apply by visiting the Common Service Center or CSS counter of the post office.
India Post itself gave this information through a tweet. Which said, “Now you can register and apply for passport at your nearest post office CSC counter. For more details visit the nearest post office.”
According to passportindia.gov.in, “Passport Seva Kendras and Post Office Passport Seva Kendras are extended branches of Passport Offices and provide front-end services related to issuance of passports. These centers cover functionality ranging from issuing tokens to applying for issuance of passports.

You can also apply online
To apply for a passport, you can register and apply online. For this you have to register yourself on the official website of Post Office. After this, you will have to deposit the online fee for making a passport. Also the form has to be submitted. After doing this you will be told a date. On that day you have to go to the nearest post office with selected documents.
These documents will be needed
To get a passport, you will have to reach your nearest post office with birth certificate, high school mark sheet, election card, PAN card, Aadhar card, driving license, ration card and an affidavit made from a notary etc.
Verification will be done by retina scanning
After taking all your documents to the post office, its authenticity will be checked. If the documents are found correct, the process will proceed. During this visit the applicant’s fingerprint and retina will be scanned. After the paperwork is done, the whole process will take 15 days. After this you will get the passport.
