A fee working to give you a brand new seal and motto for Massachusetts is popping to the general public for assist, releasing a survey officers hope will inform a closing advice due by mid-November.
The Seal and Motto Commission voted in May 2022 to name for a full redesign of the state’s seal and motto and has sought a number of extensions to complete up its work because it was first created in 2021. In a Thursday assertion, the fee stated it had launched a public survey created in partnership with UMass Boston the place residents can “have a voice in creating a seal and motto that represents the history and aspirations of Massachusetts.”
“We believe the people of Massachusetts deserve the opportunity to weigh in on the symbols and terms that can serve as inspiration for all residents,” fee co-chair Brian Boyle and co-vice chair Brittney Peauwe Wunnepog Walley stated in a press release.
At a June assembly, Boyle stated the fee would flip to UMass Boston for assist with the survey and use a portion of $100,000 in funding state lawmakers handed them to assist pay for it.
UMass Boston’s Center for Survey Research launched the survey on-line Thursday and deliberate to mail questionnaires to a random pattern of households throughout the state.
The web-based survey is on the market in English, Spanish, Portuguese, Vietnamese, Chinese, Khmer, Haitian Creole, and Russian. The print model is in English and Spanish. The fee stated it deliberate to distribute the survey to listservs maintained by Native American communities in Massachusetts and in addition to veterans’ teams.
