Redmi Smart Band Pro price in India
The price of Redmi Smart Band Pro in India is Rs 3,999, but under the limited time offer, the company is selling it for Rs 3,499. This new fitness band of the company is available on sale from February 14.
Redmi Smart Band Pro design
In the Redmi SmartBand Pro, you get to see a rectangular polycarbonate body, which has a 1.47-inch AMOLED display. The panel is large and clear, allowing for easy reading of text without straining the eyes. The display has an Always On mode and its ambient light sensor automatically adjusts the brightness. There are no buttons in its body and navigation can be done through touch. The band uses a TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane) strap, which is curved like the Mi Band 6. These can be easily removed with the help of connectors on the strap, and do not require any tools.
The fitness band has health sensors on the underside of its body, which have been fitted inside a pill shaped bump. Contact pins are also given in this place to charge it. Magnets have been given in its charger, which makes it very easy to put the fitness band on charging.
The device is very light and weighs only 25.5 grams. It doesn’t feel much after tying it on the wrist. I even slept wearing it, but still I did not face any problem. It has a 200mAh battery and is 5ATM water resistant.
Redmi Smart Band Pro software and features
Apart from Android, Redmi Smart Band Pro can also be paired with iOS smartphones. It can be paired with Xiaomi Wear on Android and via the Xiaomi Wear Lite app on iOS. The pairing process is quite simple and requires a Mi Account. After pairing, its settings can also be changed through the app. These apps support many Mi and Redmi wearables and are quite easy to use. You can also change the watchface through the app. For this, 50 watchfaces have been given in the device. You can also set any photo in the phone’s photo gallery on the watchface.
The Redmi Smart Band Pro fitness band is powered by the Ambiq Apollo 3.5 SoC and runs on custom software. Bluetooth 5 LE has been given in the device for connectivity. The absence of GPS is frustrating and it has to rely on the smartphone to record the correct location accurately. You can see the notification of the smartphone on the fitness band and it also gives alerts of incoming calls.
You can track about 110 types of workouts on this fitness band, including 14 water fitness exercises. Common workouts include walking, running, cycling, tracking, HIIT and swimming, etc. that can be activated quickly. Suggests starting by identifying activities such as running, walking, and the treadmill. Apart from this, it can also do heart rate tracking, SpO2, sleep, stress and menstrual cycle tracking. It can continuously track heart rate and can also track SPO2 level while sleeping, but these features come already disabled to reduce power consumption. You can turn them on from the settings.
The user interface (UI) of the device is very simple. On right swipe from the home screen you get quick toggles and on left swipe you get widgets like Heart Rate, SPO2, Weather, Workout. Swiping from top to bottom on the screen gives you notifications for the paired smartphone, and swiping from bottom to top provides all the functions of the smartband.
Redmi Smart Band Pro performance and battery life
I used the Redmi Smartband Pro for a week and found it quite comfortable even when I was wearing it all the time. The display didn’t have trouble reading in outdoor conditions, but in a dark room, it looked bright even with auto brightness mode turned on. The interface was simple, but initially scrolling was not very smooth. After the software update 1.1.127, which came during the review period, this problem was resolved. Its raise-to-wake feature was working fine and the display would turn on when the wrist was raised. Then as soon as the hand was lowered, it used to turn off again.
In addition to automatic heart rate and SpO2 monitoring, I had to manually turn on application notifications and advanced tracking metrics through the app. I set it to monitor my heart rate every minute or so, and set it to monitor SPO2 every 30 minutes after sleep. While set to vibrate mode for incoming notifications.
The band is quite accurate in terms of fitness tracking. I compared its heart rate monitoring to that of the Apple Watch Series 7 and the results were almost identical. Setting the heart rate to monitor every single minute had a huge impact on battery life, but the results proved more useful. Sleep tracking was also fairly accurate. The device also monitored SpO2 well while I was sleeping. I then took my own readings during the day and found that the readings were similar to the range of a medical-grade pulse oximeter.
I also used the Redmi Smartband Pro for evening walks. Since it doesn’t have built-in GPS, it depends on the paired smartphone. The result in this without JPS was less than the distance actually covered. I covered 1 kilometer, while the device showed 0.96 kilometer. Then after pairing with the smartphone, it showed better results and showed the same distance covered as 1.02 km.
As I mentioned earlier, it detects some workout activity on its own. When I started walking, the device recognized it within a minute. I counted 1000 steps, so it showed 1,002. This minor difference is bound to be found according to this price range.
Its battery capacity is 200mAh, but still it gives good backup. But it largely depends on the method used. I used Always On Display, set heart rate monitoring to one minute interval, set SpO2 monitoring to every half hour and also used advanced sleep tracking option. App notifications were also turned on and it was tracking my outdoor walks every day.
It lasted for 4.5 days even after such heavy usage. However, the company has claimed 14 days of battery backup for this. By using a few less features, you can run it for a week on a single charge. With the help of the magnetic charger, it can be easily put on charging and the battery is fully charged in less than one and a half hours.
Verdict
After reviewing the Redmi Watch last year, I liked it but it lacked SpO2 monitoring. The company took note of this and completed it in Redmi Smart Band Pro. If compared to Redmi Watch, this fitness band only lacks GPS. If you are in the habit of carrying a smartphone with you while on a trip, then this fitness band will be able to track the walk accurately, that is to be expected.
All the features of a fitness band are found in this device and it has been launched at a good price. If you do not want to spend much, then you can also go for the Mi band 6. It is also cheaper in price and gives almost the same feel. Smart Band Pro directly competes with Honor Band 6, which offers similar features at the same price range.
