- 465 crore will get grant from central and state government

Navi Mumbai : Navi Mumbai Municipal Commissioner and Administrator Abhijit Bangar on Wednesday presented an estimated budget of Rs 4910 crore for the financial year 2022-23. In which after spending Rs 4908.20 crore, a balance of Rs 1.80 crore will be left. In this budget, an amount of Rs 1345.35 crore is included in the revised budget for the financial year 2021-22. This budget has been presented by the Municipal Commissioner while not increasing any kind of tax, which is a matter of great relief for the citizens of Navi Mumbai.
Municipal Commissioner Abhijit Bangar has not proposed any kind of taxes for the financial year 2022-23 in the budget presented. As property tax is the major source of revenue for the Municipal Corporation, Municipal Commissioner Bangar has estimated a collection of Rs 804.47 crore during the financial year. Apart from this, he has estimated to get Rs 1502.95 crore from the state government as local tax or GST. The Municipal Commissioner has given special focus on carrying out development works in his budget. For which he has also estimated to get a grant of Rs 465 crore from the state and central government.

Weaker section people were taken care of in the budget
While presenting the budget, Municipal Commissioner Bangar said that the focus is on inclusive budget through economic and social development of weaker sections. For which many schemes will be implemented. He said that an independent eco-budget has been made to make the city eco-friendly. In addition, the Municipal Corporation will also prepare an SOP for the redevelopment of the dilapidated building. Due to which the said work will be speeded up, while unnecessary expenditure will be curbed. He said that the revenue of the Municipal Corporation is continuously increasing. At the same time the revenue income of the Municipal Corporation has increased by 8.88% and expenditure has come down to 7.78%. Due to which the Municipal Corporation has not taken any loan in the last 7 years. He said that work is being done to control the revenue expenditure of the Municipal Corporation, in the next 5 years, efforts will be made to bring it from the present 30% to 10%.
The Municipal Corporation does not have its own land, due to which the income of the Municipal Corporation is limited, the process of taking a decision by the State Government on the re-development of the old buildings which have become dilapidated in the Municipal Corporation area. While the picture of Navi Mumbai is about to change in the next 20 years due to re-development, it is expected to increase the income of Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation.

- Planning to set up 100 MW floating solar project and 1.5 MW hydroelectric project in Morbe Reservoir

- 120 charging points to be set up at 20 locations for charging electric vehicles
