Bhayandar: The original budget of the Mira-Bhayander Municipal Corporation for the financial year 2022-23 was presented in the Standing Committee on Monday. The budget has been prepared keeping in mind the municipal elections to be held in August. No new tax or any old tax or rate increase has been recommended. Emphasis has been laid on new works and schemes including service facilities, infrastructure development in the budget.
After handing over the copy of the budget to Rakesh Shah, Chairman of the Standing Committee, Municipal Commissioner Dilip Dhone described it as a development and environment supplement.

independent environment department
For the first time, an independent environment department has been set up with a view to improve the environment, control pollution, make a green and clean city and a fund of one crore rupees has been reserved for this. To improve the quality of air, the Finance Commission is expected to get Rs 80 crore in the next five years. Solar power, cycle track, dust control machine and rotating laboratory are proposed to be started.
Fund for Fort Promotion
A provision of Rs.7 and Rs.2 crore has been made for Ghodbunder and Dharavi Janjere Fort’s improvement, repair etc. respectively.
Municipal schools will be semi English
Semi-English will also be done in schools from 5th to 8th of the Municipal Corporation. Along with this, classes for 9th and 10th will also be started. Laboratory, e-school, abacus maths curriculum and competitive examination guidance center have been proposed to enhance the quality of education in municipal schools as compared to private schools.
heritage walk
The Heritage Walk has been conceptualized by the Municipal Commissioner to see the 400-year-old history and historical sites of Mira-Bhayander. For this, tourist bus will be started by purchasing e-minibus.
so much income, so much spending
1,817 crore, 90 lakh, 75 thousand income and 1,917 crore, 60 lakh 25 thousand rupees have been expected in the profit budget of 30.50 lakh. This time, 20.45% increase in income has been claimed in the budget as compared to the last financial year. Despite this, about 45 percent of its income is to be received from loans and grants. Almost the same part will be spent on Public Works Department and Water Supply Department. The main income is Rs 260 crore from GST grant, Rs 95 crore from property tax, Rs 160 crore from building development tax, Rs 127 crore from water supply charges, Rs 258 crore from loan and Rs 580 crore from grant. The main expenditure includes Rs 174 crore on salary, Rs 148 crore on ward cleaning, Rs 71 crore on garbage, Rs 23 crore on hospital-dispensary, Rs 84 crore on COVID epidemic, Rs 429 crore on road-gutter, architectural construction and water supply and 412 crore has been included on sewage.
