Nagpur. In the case of theft at the doctor’s house in Wanjarinagar under Ajni police station, the police finally arrested the accused. For one and a half months, the police was engaged in the search of the accused. After all, one of the accused was identified through fingerprints and two of his accomplices were also caught. Police seized goods worth Rs 5.50 lakh including 15 tola of gold from the accused. The arrested accused include Santosh Suresh Rajput (42), resident of Anandnagar, Atre Layout, Prateek alias Raja Gautam Dhargave (29) resident of Ramtekenagar and Devanand Ashok Petare (42), resident of Satrapur, Kanhan.
On November 17, Santosh and Prateek had robbed the house of Dr. Dnyaneshwar Ingle, resident of Vanjarinagar, and stole goods worth Rs 6 lakh including 18 tola of gold, laptop and mobile. The Crime Branch was also investigating the matter along with Ajni Police. During the investigation of the house, some finger prints were found by the police. Santosh has already been caught in theft cases. The fingerprints found at the spot matched with that. The crime branch took him into custody but he did not confess. In such a situation, Santosh was handed over to Ajni police.
Laptop and mobile were thrown in the drain
Ajni police started questioning Santosh. He, along with Prateek, confessed to committing the theft. He had thrown the laptop and mobile in the drain near his house. He was examined along with him and both the items were recovered from the drain. He had allowed the rest of the goods to be sold to Devanand Petare through Prateek. The police seized 15 tola of gold from the bullion trader on the behest of Devanand. After a long time, the police got the clue of the accused through finger print.
Santosh had also stolen gold jewelery by breaking into an office in Pratapnagar police station area. He was handed over to Pratapnagar police for further investigation. This action was taken by Inspector Mahendra Ambhore, Sub Inspector Ashish Singh Thakur, Constable Atul Davande, Satish Sanap, Manoj Neware and Hansraj Pauljhgade under the guidance of ACP Ganesh Birdar.
