    In our country celery has been used as medicine along with spices for thousands of years. The benefits of eating celery in the form of spice, powder, decoction and juice are also available. There is a common saying about celery that celery alone helps in digesting hundreds of types of grains. It contains plenty of antioxidants and anti-inflammatory elements, which not only relieve the phlegm in the chest but also give relief in cold and sinus.

    There are mainly three types of Ajwain: –

    1. celery
    2. Wild celery
    3. Khorasani Celery.

    Benefits of Celery:

    Gas and Constipation

    Ajwain has antispasmodic and carminative properties, which is effective in reducing the effect of gas. Also, the use of thymol relieves gastrointestinal diseases.

    Asthma

    Celery is antiseptic, which affects the respiratory system. This can provide some relief from the problem of asthma.

    Colds, flu and viral infections

    Celery contains thymol, which is antibacterial. Thyme also boosts the immune system of the body, thereby preventing colds, flu and other viral infections.

    Diarrhoea

    Celery has anti-diarrhoea effects.

    Cholesterol

    Celery seeds have an antihyperlipidemic effect, which can help reduce the body’s cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, triglycerides, and total lipids.

    Lose weight

    Eating roasted celery reduces body weight. This improves metabolic functioning. Also, it can help keep hunger calm for longer periods of time, keeping weight under control.

    For kidney stone

    Celery had a diuretic property. Diuretic property reduces the amount of calcium in the urine. This can prevent kidney stone.

    Inflammation

    Applying celery paste on the affected area provides relief from inflammation. It has anti-inflammatory effects, which relieve inflammation.

    Indigestion

    The use of celery is beneficial for the digestive system. Celery also promotes the activity of gastric acid and digestive enzymes. This can help digest food.

    Blood Pressure

    Celery is rich in thymol, which helps in lowering blood pressure. At the same time, the calcium channel blocking effect of celery plays an important role in heart rate and blood pressure.

    The skin

    Celery contains thymol, which relieves skin infection. In addition, it works like antiviral, anti-inflammatory, antifungal and anti-bacterial. Which removes the problem of fungus, bacteria and inflammation from the skin.

    For hair

    To provide sufficient nutrition to the hair, the use of oil made from celery will give adequate nutrition to the hair and avoid the problem of loss and breakage.

    How to eat:

    • Celery increases appetite. Eating one teaspoon of celery with lukewarm water will help in good appetite.
    • For gas or flatulence, roasting celery on a pan and licking it with lemon and salt provides relief.
    • Drink celery water to keep the digestive system healthy.
    • In the problem of flu or sore throat, keeping celery one fourth, one pinch of salt and one clove in the mouth will be relieved by sucking.
    • Applying a tempering of celery in pulses or vegetables during cooking will also make the food tasty and it will be easier to digest.
