Ozzy Osbourne’s CryptoBatz Collection was put up for sale on the Discord NFT Marketplace. The project recently changed the URL that redirects buyers to the sale page. The scammers took advantage of this change in the URL to create a fake Discord server on the old URL.
Tweets showing old links to the Cryptobatz page on Discord were not removed. Although those tweets have now been deleted, their screenshots have been shared on social media.
So scammers copied and set up a fake discord and set up the old cryptobatz vanity URL. The old tweet with the old URL never got deleted, so as it filtered into people’s feeds, they inadvertently were being taken to the scam discord. pic.twitter.com/OmNaavPg3q

As reported by The Verge, those who clicked on this old URL on the official handle of CryptoBatz are embroiled in the scam.
This scam link asked buyers to verify their crypto assets and redirected them to a phishing site. Here he was asked to connect to his cryptocurrency wallet. The invite panel of the fake Discord page showed the total number of “community members” to be 1,330, and it is speculated that these numbers may be victims of the scam.
It is yet to be ascertained whether the total amount stolen through the scam is or how many people have been victims of it. Osbourne’s public statement on the incident is also awaited.
Meanwhile, Sutter Systems, the creator of the CryptoBatz NFT, has blamed Discord for the scam.
“In an emailed statement, ‘Jepeggi’, co-founder of Sutter Systems, stated that the scam was made possible due to easy setup and maintenance,” the report said.
At the same time, Discord is conducting its own internal investigation on this controversy.
The CryptoBatz NFT Collection is available for purchase on OpenSea for approximately ETH 1.8, with a total current price of $5,046 (approximately Rs.3.75 lakh). From this it can be estimated that this scam can go up to crores of rupees.<!–
