Flipkart has announced to start its first grocery store in Lucknow. The company said on Monday that it will provide direct employment to more than 500 people. Along with this, thousands of indirect jobs will also be created due to the company’s supply chain. The company said in a statement that this warehouse is spread over 50,000 square feet. This facility will enable the company to deliver grocery goods in Lucknow, Kanpur and Allahabad.
In addition, the company will work with local transport contractors, staffing vendors, security agencies, administrative and sanitation agencies and consuming suppliers. According to the statement, the company’s grocery operations will help to connect local food processing units and millions of consumers. Uttar Pradesh Industries Minister Satish Mahana said, “Uttar Pradesh has a dynamic industrial policy, which helps companies to get involved in the business opportunities and ecosystem present in the state.”
Will help in increasing the income of farmers
Flipkart Group’s head of corporate affairs and senior vice president Rajnish Kumar said that Flipkart has made a number of investments towards strengthening infrastructure and generating jobs to support the growth of e-commerce. The company already has 190 different types of warehouses. Now we are very happy to open our first grocery store. This will not only help in increasing the income of the farmers but will also provide an opportunity to invest deeply in the local agricultural ecosystem. Also, an opportunity will be created to work with thousands of small farmers and farmer producer organizations and bring them into a co-ordinated retail ecosystem.

Flipkart grocery service is in these cities in UP right now
At present, Flipkart grocery service is available in major cities of UP like Agra, Aligarh, Meerut and Mathura. With the newly opened warehouse, the company will now be able to provide service in Lucknow and its nearby cities like Kanpur and Allahabad. There are more than 18000 sellers on the Flipkart platform in the state. About 6000 grocery stores are part of the company’s grocery program.
