The tutorial and govt councils of Jamia Millia Islamia are but to approve the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) within the college though the brand new tutorial session is about to start in two months. “The process to approve the NEP is underway and it will be done before July 15,” Nazim Husain Al Jafri, registrar of Jamia Millia Islamia mentioned.
Though the NEP has been authorized in-principle by the college, it requires the stamp of the Academic Council (AC) and the Executive Council (EC) for implementation.
The NEP authorized by the Union Cabinet replaces the 34-year-old National Policy on Education framed in 1986 and is aimed toward paving the best way for transformational reforms in class and better training programs to make India a worldwide data superpower.
Choice between three or four-year undergraduate programs, a number of entry and exit choices in diploma programs, including three-and-half crore seats in larger training establishments, which can now have a single regulator, discontinuation of M.Phil programmes and fixation of charges are among the many larger training reforms outlined within the new NEP.
Explaining the method of the approval of any change within the training coverage, Jafri said a committee is normally fashioned that submits its report asking for the suggestions from numerous Heads of Departments. Then the brand new coverage is authorized by the Faculty Committee and thereafter is introduced earlier than the Academic Council.
“Following the approval by Academic Council, the policy is sent to Executive Council, the highest statutory body of the university,” he mentioned. Even although the NEP is but to be authorized, numerous departments have began finalising the curriculum for four-year graduate programmes.
The departments are holding discussions and deliberations to arrange the syllabus.
