Identity documents like Aadhaar and Passport may now have to be linked to book train tickets online. Railways can take this step to control fraudsters in the name of train tickets. Passengers may have to enter Aadhaar, PAN or passport number while logging in to book train tickets through the IRCTC website or app if the railways plan is implemented.
Efforts to end fraud of ticket brokers
RPF Director General Arun Kumar said on Friday that the Railways is working on a plan to link identity documents with IRCTC. He said that earlier the action against forgery was based on human intelligence. But its ground impact was very less. We are working against fraud. We feel that eventually we will have to link it with PAN, Aadhaar or other identity documents while login for the ticket. With this we can prevent fraud with the passenger.
