The government ration distribution shop is called the shop which is opened by the government and by which the people living in and around it are given a fixed quantity of rice, pulses, sugar, wheat, called flour, etc. at the rates fixed by the government. Is provided at

These shops are given the responsibility of distributing the essential things by the government. The government opens such shops in villages and urban areas. The government has introduced a ration card scheme under which ration cards have been divided into several categories like APL, BPL, IRDP etc. Ration cardholders of different categories are given ration at different prices.

Ration distributors can distribute ration only according to the rules set by the government. These shops are also called fair price ration shops. India is a vast country. The population of India is very large. Unemployment has also become very high in our country due to the increase in population. Despite being educated, many educated people are unemployed in our country.

The government is running many schemes to provide employment. Still, the problem of unemployment is not going away. In such a situation people prefer to start their own business. In such a situation, people can benefit greatly by opening a government ration shop.

Required eligibility conditions for opening government ration sharing shop-

All states have their own rules for opening government ration shops but some eligibility conditions are the same in all states. Which are described below-

1. Ration distributors must be residents of India –

The person who wants to open a government ration shop must be a resident of India. He can open a government ration distribution shop in the same area in which he lives.

2. Educational Qualification-

The person opening the government ration distribution shop must be at least 10th pass. In many states, this age has been increased to graduation.

3. To be a financially strong person-

The person opening a government ration shop should be financially strong. The amount from 50000 to ₹ 75000 should be deposited in his bank account.

4. A legally delinquent person cannot apply-

A person who is legally delinquent or who has broken the rules of law cannot open a government ration distributing shop.

5. Recipients of license not issued earlier- Application-

A person who has already obtained a license for a ration shop but his license is cancelled due to any reason, he cannot apply to open the shop in this way.

6. Choice of place to open shop-

Such shops should be opened around the village itself. So that the people of the village do not have to go far. Even if there is a wheat grinding mill around the ration depot, it is even better because the government gives wheat to poor people. Due to the flour mill, they can also grind the flour and take it home.

Things to keep in mind while opening government ration distribution shop-

1. Shop Size-

In order to open a government ration shop, it is also necessary to see the size of the shop which is being opened for distribution of government ration. If the height of the shop is 4 meters in length, 5 meters and width is 3 meters, then it is very good because the government ration is in enough quantity for a month. A lot of space is needed to keep it.

2. Proper arrangement of ration storage-

The appropriate storage system should be provided in the shops which are being opened for distribution of government ration. It should be noted that the roof does not drip from anywhere. Rainwater does not come inside the room. If rainwater comes in from anywhere or if there is dampness due to rain, then there is a fear of spoilage of grains.

3. Take care of cleanliness-

If a person opens a government ration shop, he gets permission to open the shop, then that person should take full care of cleanliness in the shop. While distributing the grain, the grain falls here and there, due to which there is no cleaning, the rats make their home there. Due to which the grain is damaged.

4. Road arrangement-

While opening the government ration shop, it should also be kept in mind that the shop is on the side of the road so that those who bring and carry the ration are not a problem. Having a shop by the side of the road facilitates people to carry rations. Government ration also comes in big trains. In such a situation, it is also good for those who bring ration.

5. Honest Person-

The person who is going to open the government ration shop should be honest. He should distribute ration at fixed rates fixed by the government. Many times the government also distributes free food grains to poor ration cardholders. In such a situation, that person should give free grain to poor ration cardholders. Many times the person in the shop fudges. He does not even distribute that free ration to poor people and later distributes it at another cost which is wrong.

6. Computer Information-

As everyone knows nowadays is the era of computers. In such a situation, the person who wants to open the government ration shop should also know the computer. Nowadays, complete information about the distribution of food grains is put on the computer.

Process of opening government ration distribution shops in rural areas-

It is often seen in rural areas that there is only one government depot for 5-6 villages. Due to which people and those who distribute ration have a problem. People have to go far to get ration. In such a situation, for the convenience of the villagers, it is talked about opening a government ration shop in the village itself.

  1. First, the Block Development Officer calls the meeting. It is considered in the meeting as to what is the reason for opening a government ration shop in the village. Names of eligible persons who open the shop are then given to the block officer.
  2. The Block Development Officer gives a form based on the merit of the persons who have to fill it and submit it. Necessary documents are also attached with that form and they are examined.
  3. After the Block Development Officer examines the form, they go to the District Supply Officer.
  4. The District Development Officer sends all these documents to the District Magistrate. Then the license is given to the eligible person only. Some money has to be paid on security basis before taking a license. Thus, by obtaining a license, a person can open a government ration distribution shop in the village.

Procedure for opening cheap ration shops in urban areas

There is no need for much trouble to open government ration shops in urban areas. In urban areas, the area is needed to open government ration shops. There are 400 cards in the 2000 unit area. 800 cards come in four thousand unit area.

If there is an area of two thousand units or about four thousand units in the urban area, then it is notified through the newspaper or the website of the concerned office. Applications are sought from interested applicants through the newspaper website. A fixed date is kept for this.

Applications are not accepted after this date. After receiving the application form from the concerned department, the supply inspector examines these applications. After scrutiny of the applications, the selection committee sends a call letter to the eligible candidates.

The selection committee consists of District Supply Officer, Chief Development Officer, District Magistrate etc. Examines the economic status and character of candidates.

These applications are then looked up by the District Magistrate and then the eligible candidate is granted a license. On getting the license, he has to submit his security. Once a person gets a license, there is no rule to renew it.

If due to any reason the same person has to close the cheap ration shop and in future he wants to get the license again, then again he is not given license to open the cheap ration shop.
