To make cars more secure, the Government of India has made the provision of front passenger airbags mandatory for all cars. According to the MoRTH notification, the deadline for the co-driver airbags to be fitted for all new vehicles is April 1, 2021. However, this rule is applicable to existing models with effect from August 31, 2021.

Maruti Suzuki Alto 800
The entry-level Maruti Alto 800 car is currently offered as a standard fit with driver-side airbags, while passenger-side airbags are available as an option. The STD and LXI (CNG) variants are not offered as a standard feature with co-driver airbags.

Maruti Suzuki Eeco
The front passenger side airbag feature is also not available in this car. However for safety, the Eco gets driver side airbags, ABS with EBD, reverse parking sensor, driver and front passenger seat belt reminder and more.

Mahindra Bolero
This is the only car in Mahindra’s portfolio that misses the front passenger side airbag safety feature. However, the SUV features several safety features including ABS, driver airbags, reverse parking sensors, co-driver detection system, seat belt reminder and many more.

Datsun Redi Go
The car is offered with dual airbags only on the top-end T (O) variants while driver side airbags are only available in the lower variants. The updated entry-level car is equipped with ABS, EBD, seat-belt reminder, rear parking assist sensors, front disc brakes and many safety features.

Renault Kwid
The carmaker offers a co-driver airbag feature on the Kwid as an option. However, cars come with driver-side airbags as a standard feature along with other safety features.

Maruti Celerio, Celerio X
Both Maruti Celerio and Celerio X cars are equipped with safety features, including the driver side airbag as standard. However, they get a front passenger side airbag as an optional safety feature in the line-up.

Hyundai Santro
The hatchback is the only car in Hyundai’s portfolio to be offered with dual airbags as standard in the line-up. The car gets a lot of safety features and even driver side airbags. However, the co-driver airbag facility is offered only on the Sportz (AMT) and Esta models.

The Maruti Suzuki S-Preso also features a co-driver airbag option. The top-of-the-line VXI + trim gets dual airbags, while the co-driver airbag feature is seen as optional in the rest of the trims.

Maruti Suzuki Wagonr
The Maruti WagonR gets a driver airbag in all variants while the front seat passenger airbag is available only on the top-end ZXi variants, with the remaining three variants being offered as an option.
