From October of the year 2021, customers may have to spend 5000 rupees to renew the registration of their 15-year-old car. This price is 8 times more than the fees currently being paid. At the same time, if you register your old bike, then you will have to pay 1000 rupees. At present, this fee is only 300 rupees. Apart from this, if you have a 15 year old truck or bus, then you have to pay Rs 12,500 for its fitness renewal certificate, which is 21 times more than the price currently being given.
The Ministry of Road Transport has sent a draft notification to rollout the vehicle scrap policy, in which prices have been told. According to this notification, if you delay the registration of your private vehicle, then you will have to pay a fine of Rs 300 to 500 rupees every month. On the other hand, if you delay the fitness certificate for commercial vehicles, then you will have to pay a fine of 50 rupees.
Let me tell you that the government has already announced a new proposal, which includes the old vehicles that cause pollution. In such a situation, the question arises here that whether the government will go to the NGT and the Supreme Court for ban of diesel and petrol vehicles in Delhi and other areas for 10 and 15 years.
Activist Anil Sood said that, if the government is bringing a policy in which old polluting vehicles are being taken out, then it should be implemented in the whole country rather than in any one place. In such a situation, there is no need for the government to approach the Supreme Court or NGT regarding the review of the order.
Please tell that in this proposal of the government, it has not been cleared yet whether those old electric and other fuel powered vehicles will also be spared. The increase in registration and renewal of fitness certificate may discourage vehicle owners from taking their old vehicles. On the other hand, if we talk about private vehicles, all car owners will have to renew their RC every 5 years after completion of 15 years. At the same time, in the case of fitness certificate, after completion of 8 years, you will have to renew it every year.
The government has also prepared a draft regarding scrap policy. It has been said in this proposal that the car owner can take his old vehicle to any scrap center in the country. While taking a new vehicle, they can also get their scrap certificate transferred. Scrappage center will have to verify the original owner of the vehicle here, after which scrapage will be accepted. The scrap value that the company will give to the car owner will be the price of the market. No amount has been fixed for this.
