New DelhiIn the Lok Sabha, members of some opposition parties, including the Congress, demanded the resignation of Union Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra in the Lakhimpur Kheri violence case of Uttar Pradesh and The uproar over some other issues continued on Tuesday due to which the proceedings of the House were adjourned for the day at around 2.30 pm after a one-time adjournment.
The ‘Prohibition of Child Marriage (Amendment) Bill, 2021’ was introduced in the House amid uproar by the opposition members. Women and Child Development Minister Smriti Irani proposed to send it to the Standing Committee. After the one-time adjournment, when the proceedings of the Lok Sabha began at 2 pm, the opposition members reached near the podium raising slogans. Presiding Chairman Rajendra Agrawal got the necessary papers laid on the Table of the House in the midst of the noise. Amidst the uproar, Union Women and Child Development Minister Smriti Irani introduced the ‘Prohibition of Child Marriage (Amendment) Bill, 2021’ in the House.
Congress, Trinamool Congress, DMK, Biju Janata Dal, Shiv Sena and some other opposition parties opposed the introduction of the bill. Most of the opposition members alleged that the bill was brought in haste and the parties concerned were not consulted. Amid sloganeering by the opposition members, the House approved the reference of the ‘Chartered Accountants, Cost and Works Accountants and Company Secretaries (Amendment) Bill, 2021’ for the consideration of the Standing Committee.

As the ruckus in the House continued, the presiding Chairman Agrawal adjourned the proceedings at 2.30 am on Wednesday till 11 am. Earlier, Question Hour was disrupted due to sloganeering by opposition members. Speaker Om Birla started the Question Hour amidst the noise. During the Question Hour, supplementary questions related to the Ministries of Home, Agriculture, Rural Development were asked, which were also answered by the respective Ministers. Birla appealed to the slogan-shouting opposition members to go to their places.
Birla told the members, “You go to your place, I will give you every chance. I will give you full time on every issue. You disturb the House in a planned manner, it is not proper. You go to your seat.” As the commotion continued in the House, he adjourned the proceedings at around 11.50 p.m. till 2 p.m. On Monday and last week also, the opposition members created ruckus in the house on the issue of violence in Lakhimpur Kheri on October 3, due to which the proceedings of the house were disrupted.
