The price of the BYD electric bus has not yet been confirmed by the company nor has it been officially announced. BYD says that in 2021, the company will be the second largest manufacturer of BEVs in China and it has produced about 32 thousand EV units in a year. The company’s Type-D buses come with more capacity. As far as its Type-A buses are concerned, they are quite small in size but quite beneficial for use in schools. Along with this, the pollution free and low cost of buses makes them even more beneficial for schools.
In a press release, it has been informed by the company that these new electric buses will come in the sizes of 22.9 feet, 24.5 feet and 26.7 feet. The purpose behind launching buses in this size is to run them in schools on such routes where the number of children is less or to be used for such children who are suffering from physical infirmity in some way. The bus is fitted with a Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery which can be recharged through DC or single phase AC supply. It comes with 150kW fast charging for DC and 19.2kW charging for AC.
The company has not yet announced the release date of the buses. It is also not clear in which markets the buses will come. BYD also manufactures Blade EV batteries. The company’s buses debuted in the school system in the US in 2021 where the company provides Type-D buses. The company is also partnering with other firms to create more innovative vehicles in the EV space.
