Punjab CM Swearing: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Bhagwant Mann has been sworn in as the new Chief Minister of Punjab. The new Chief Minister of Punjab Bhagwant Mann was administered the oath at 12.30 pm by Governor BL Purohit. Mann took oath as the 17th Chief Minister of Punjab.
The swearing-in ceremony of Bhagwant Mann took place at Khatkar Kalan, the native village of great freedom fighter Shaheed Bhagat Singh in Nawanshahr, Punjab. During this, elaborate security arrangements were made. Let us inform that AAP won the Punjab Assembly elections by winning 92 seats in the 117-member assembly, which is the biggest ever victory in the state.
AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal was present along with his entire cabinet and all the MLAs of Punjab at the swearing-in ceremony. Apart from Kejriwal, no other chief minister or a big leader of the opposition was present at the swearing-in ceremony.
Outgoing Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi was also not invited to the swearing-in ceremony. After the appeal of Bhagwant Mann, his supporters reached the ceremony wearing Basanti colored turban and dupatta.
Jagraon SSP Ketan Patil said that the capacity of the pandal set up here is more than 50 thousand. The responsibility of security of MLAs, their families and VVIPs coming from Delhi, Chandigarh and Punjab has been given to our district. In all, around 2000 policemen have been deployed.
Bhagwant Mann, in a video message, appealed to men to wear yellow turbans and women to wear yellow shawls for his swearing-in ceremony. This appeal was made keeping in mind the yellow turban of Shaheed Bhagat Singh. Let us tell you that Mann himself is seen wearing a yellow turban.
Significantly, in the Punjab Assembly elections, the Aam Aadmi Party got a thumping victory with an absolute majority. AAP has won 92 out of 117 assembly seats in the state. At the same time, Congress got 18 seats, BJP got 2, BSP 1 and Shiromani Akali Dal got 3 seats. Bhagwant Mann has won from Dhuri seat by a huge margin of 58,206 votes.
