The Skoda Kushaq will compete with the Hyundai Creta, Tata Harrier, Renault Duster, Kia Seltos and the upcoming Volkswagen Tigun.

Skoda Auto India on Monday said that it has started production of its new SUV Kushak. This SUV will be launched later this month and will be made available for sale in July. The new model is the first model to be launched under the company’s India 2.0 project and is being manufactured at the Skoda Volkswagen India Pvt Ltd plant located in Chakan, Pune.
The company said in a statement that the car is based on its MQB-A0-IN platform, which is a low-cost version of the MQB-A0 platform and the Kushak has been specially molded for the Indian market. This new platform will also be shared with upcoming Volkswagen vehicles. This will reduce production cost and increase localization. Skoda has achieved over 95 per cent localization level and this will help the Kushaq to represent the mid-size SUV segment in a better way.
The car will be offered in three variants namely Active, Ambition and Style and will have mySKODA Connect and SKODA Play App which will work on connected car features. Apart from this, electronic stability control and dual airbags will also be given in it. On the other hand, its Active variant will get a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system which will run with Android Auto and Apple Car Play. Apart from this, the Ambition and Style variants will get a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system that will work with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It will also get an electric sunroof, dual-spoke multi-function steering wheel, cruise control, automatic climate control and ventilated front seats.
This SUV will be offered in two powertrain options. The 1.0-litre TSI engine will generate 109bhp power and 175Nm of torque, while the 1.5-litre TSI engine will generate 148bhp power and 250Nm of torque. A 6-speed manual transmission will be standard, while a 7-speed DSG and a 6-speed automatic unit will be available in 1.5-litre and 1.0-litre engine options respectively. The Skoda Kushaq will take on the likes of Hyundai Creta, Tata Harrier, Renault Duster, Kia Seltos and the upcoming Volkswagen Tigun. This car was launched in March this year and the company has not yet announced its price but it is expected to be priced between Rs 9.95 lakh to Rs 17.7 lakh.
