It is considered the deadliest structural failure in modern human history and the deadliest garment-factory disaster in history.

Banks and shops on the lower floor were immediately closed as soon as cracks within the building were noticed. At the same time, the information about these cracks was given to the owner of the building, who ignored it. Despite the crack, the factory remained operational in the building. The workers working in the garment factory were asked to return to work. The next day the workers arrived at the factory to work and the building collapsed.
