The data showed that the number of people cured of the disease has increased to 1,28,09,643. While the case death rate has come down to 1.20 percent.
The number of COVID-19 cases in India crossed 20 lakh on 7 August, 30 lakh on 23 August, 40 lakh on 5 September and 50 lakh on 16 September. It had crossed the 60 lakh mark on 28 September, 70 lakh on 11 October, 80 lakh on 29 October, 90 lakh on 20 November and one crore on 19 December.

Maharashtra has the highest death of 419 people
According to the Indian Council of Medical Research, 26,65,38,416 sample tests have been done till 17 April, in which 15,66,394 sample tests were done on Saturday. Of the 1,501 new deaths, 419 cases were reported from Maharashtra, 167 from Delhi, 158 from Chhattisgarh, 120 from Uttar Pradesh, 97 from Gujarat, 80 from Karnataka, 66 from Madhya Pradesh, 62 from Punjab and 39 cases from Tamil Nadu.
The number of these new deaths is 37 each from Rajasthan and Uttarakhand, 34 each from Bihar and West Bengal, 32 from Haryana, 30 from Jharkhand, 27 from Kerala, 15 each from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh and 12 from Himachal Pradesh.
The ministry said that out of the total 1,77,150 deaths in the country so far, 59,970 are from Maharashtra, 13,270 Karnataka, 13,071 Tamil Nadu, 11,960 Delhi, 10,540 West Bengal, 9,703 Uttar Pradesh, 7,834 Punjab and 7,388 Andhra Pradesh. The Health Ministry emphasized that more than 70 percent of the deaths were due to co-morbidities.
