With only a few days left for the year 2021 and when all the major events of the year have taken place, it becomes important to know about the most memorable events of this year, this year starts with a normal Friday of the Gregorian calendar. The year is the 2021th year of the Common Era (CE) and Anno Domini (AD) designations, the 21st year of the 3rd millennium and 21st century, and the second year of the 2020s.
The United Nations declared 2021 as the International Year of Peace and Trust, the International Year of the Creative Economy for Sustainable Development, the International Year of Fruits and Vegetables, and the International Year for the Elimination of Child Labor.

Like 2020, 2021 has also been hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic, due to the infestation of new variants of COVID-19. The major global rollout of COVID-19 vaccines, which began in late 2020, continued into 2021. Most of the major events scheduled for 2020, from the Eurovision Song Contest to the Summer Olympics and Paralympics that were postponed due to the pandemic, were held in 2021.

Eurovision Song Contest
The Eurovision Song Contest 2021 was the 65th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. It took place in Rotterdam, Netherlands, following the country’s victory with Duncan Lawrence’s song “Arcade” at the 2019 competition. The Netherlands was scheduled to host the 2020 competition, before it was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Organized by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and host broadcasters Netherlands Publice Omroep (NPO), Netherlands Omroep Stitching (NOS) and Avrotross, the competition was held at the Rotterdam Ahoy, and consisted of two semi-finals on 18 and 20 May, and 22 on 22 May. Final on May 2021. Three live shows were performed by Chantal Janzen, Edsilia Romble, Jan Smit and Nikki De Jagger.
The EBU reported that the contest had an audience of 183 million viewers in 36 European markets, an increase of one million viewers compared to the previous edition, which featured a seven percent increase in the age range of 15–24.
2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference
The 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference, commonly known as COP26, was the 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference, held at the SEC Center in Glasgow, Scotland, United Kingdom, from 31 October to 13 November 2021. The chairman of the conference was Britain’s cabinet minister Alok Sharma. It was delayed by a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was the 26th Conference of the Parties (COP) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the third meeting of the Parties to the 2015 Paris Agreement (designated CMA1, CMA2 , CMA3), and the 16th meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol (CMP16).
Expo 2020
Expo 2020 is a world expo, currently being hosted by Dubai in the United Arab Emirates from 1 October 2021 to 31 March 2022. It was originally scheduled for 20 October 2020 to 10 April 2021, it was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the postponement, the organizers named Expo 2020 for marketing and branding purposes. The Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) general assembly in Paris named Dubai as the host on 27 November 2013.

The 2020 UEFA European Football Championship, commonly known as UEFA Euro 2020 or Euro 2020, was the 16th UEFA European Championship, Europe’s quadrennial international men’s football championship organized by the European Football Associations (UEFA). To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the European Championship competition, UEFA President Michel Platini announced that the tournament would be held as a “romantic” one-off event in several countries, with each tournament in 11 cities across 11 UEFA countries. will provide space for Defending champions Portugal, who won UEFA Euro 2016 in France, were knocked out by Belgium in the round of 16. Italy won their second European Championship title after beating England on penalties in the final after a 1–1 draw after extra time. The victory coincided with the 39th anniversary of Italy’s 1982 FIFA World Cup final victory over West Germany.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Europe during 2020, the tournament was postponed until the summer of 2021, while retaining the names of UEFA Euro 2020 and host venues. With special rules regarding COVID-19, UEFA allowed more substitutions for the first time and implemented the Video Assistant Referee (VAR).
2020 Summer Olympics
Tokyo was chosen as the host city on 7 September 2013 during the 125th IOC session in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Originally scheduled from 24 July to 9 August 2020, the event was postponed to 2021 in March 2020 as a result. The COVID-19 pandemic is the first such instance in the history of the Olympic Games (previous Games were canceled but not rescheduled). However, the event retained the name Tokyo 2020 for marketing and branding purposes. It was largely held behind closed doors, with no public audience allowed due to the declaration of a state of emergency in the Greater Tokyo area in response to the pandemic. The games were the most expensive games ever made, with a total cost of over $20 billion. The Summer Paralympics were held between 24 August and 5 September 2021, 16 days after the completion of the Olympics.
New sporting events were introduced to existing sports for 2020, including 3×3 basketball, freestyle BMX and mixed gender team events in many existing sports, as well as the return of Madison Cycling for men. The new IOC policies allowed the host organizing committee to add new sports to the Olympic program for just one Olympic Games. The sporting events added by the Japanese Olympic Committee were baseball and softball, karate, surfing and skateboarding.
