The world’s oldest canine has died on the age of 31.
Born on 11 May 1992, Bobi was recognised by Guinness World Records because the oldest canine ever in February.
The purebred Rafeiro do Alentejo broke a file held by Australian cattle-dog Bluey, who died at 29 years and 5 months in 1939.
Dr Karen Becker, a veterinarian, confirmed the canine’s loss of life over the weekend, saying: “Last night, this sweet boy earned his wings.
“Despite outliving each canine in historical past, his 11,478 days on Earth would by no means be sufficient for many who cherished him.
“Godspeed, Bobi … you’ve taught the world all you were meant to teach.”
Bobi lived his total life with Leonel Costa and his household within the rural village of Conqueiros in Portugal.
The canine was born in an outhouse with three siblings, however Mr Costa stated the puppies needed to be put down as his household had too many animals.

Bobi escaped nevertheless and continued to stay on the rural house.
Mr Costa, who was simply eight when the canine was born, credited Bobi’s lengthy life to the “calm, peaceful environment” he lived in “far from the cities”.
The 38-year-old added that the canine all the time ate “what we ate” and was by no means chained up or placed on a leash.
Bobi turned 31 in May, regardless of his breed having a typical life expectancy of between 12 and 14 years.
