A girl has develop into “Africa’s oldest mother” after giving delivery to twins aged 70.
Safina Namukwaya gave delivery to a boy and a woman on 29 November after present process in vitro fertilisation (IVF) therapy on the Women’s Hospital International and Fertility Centre in Kampala, Uganda.
The delivery was described by the centre as “historic”.
“We’ve achieved the extraordinary – delivering twins to Africa’s oldest mother aged 70!” it stated in an announcement on Facebook.
It added that each Ms Namukwaya and her youngsters had been doing effectively.
Ms Namukwaya informed native media outlet NTV Uganda that the being pregnant was “not a cup of tea” and she or he had spent almost all of her financial savings resulting from feeling sick.
It is her second time giving delivery in three years, having had a child woman via IVF in 2020.
The strategy of IVF includes an egg being faraway from the girl’s ovaries after which fertilised with sperm in a laboratory, in line with the NHS.
