A lady has died after being struck by a police automotive that had been engaged in a chase.
The lady, 53, was hit by the car in Royton, close to Oldham, Greater Manchester, this morning.
She was taken to hospital, however died a short while later.
Greater Manchester Police mentioned in a information launch: “At around 10am today, officers pursued a suspected stolen vehicle and engaged in short pursuit as a result.
“A short while later a highway site visitors collision occurred involving a police car and a girl, aged 53, was taken to hospital for therapy to critical accidents, however sadly died a short while later regardless of one of the best makes an attempt of emergency service personnel.”
Chris Bowen, Chief Superintendent of GMP’s Oldham district, mentioned: “Our sincere thoughts and condolences go to the family and friends of the woman that has sadly passed.
“We perceive that the general public are involved by incidents of this nature. In-line with regular process, referrals have been made to GMP’s Professional Standards Branch and the Independent Office for Police Conduct.
“Investigations like this often result in road closures which can cause significant disruption and we thank the local community and road users for their patience.”
