North Devon Council has issued a warning after a woman was swept out to sea at Ilfracombe Harbour.
The council mentioned 4 youngsters have been enjoying on the pier slipway throughout excessive tide earlier than the lady fell into the ocean on 3 August simply earlier than 7pm.
Footage reveals the lady being swept into the water after being hit by a big wave.
She was saved by two members of the general public with the assistance of a lifebuoy and Ilfracombe RNLI offered casualty care to 2 youngsters earlier than taking them house.
Harbourmaster Georgina Carlo-Paat mentioned the incident was a “serious reminder” of high-risk actions within the harbour, including that sea situations have been “very volatile”.
She mentioned: “This incident is a serious reminder of the dangers of tombstoning and other high-risk activities in the harbour. Not only were the youths lucky not to be more seriously injured, they put their lives in danger as well as those of quick-thinking bystanders who acted when they got into trouble.
“The sea situations have been very unstable and all the youths had been knocked off their ft on the slipway previous to the incident, however nonetheless continued to run into surging waves.”

The council reminded individuals of the hazards of tombstoning – leaping or diving from a peak into water.
It mentioned a by-law prohibits individuals from leaping, diving into and swimming on the harbour with out permission from the harbourmaster to guard them from dangers like “submerged objects and rocks, and the strong currents that can rapidly sweep people away”.
The penalty for leaping off the harbour might be as much as a £1,000 high quality.
