Britain Vaccination: The delta variant of the corona virus remains a major threat in Britain. Meanwhile, a decision can be taken soon on vaccinating 16 and 17-year-olds. For this the advice of JCVI is awaited.
Vaccination in Britain – symbolic picture
Britain Covid Vaccination Status: In Britain, soon children aged 16 to 17 will also be vaccinated. Here experts can recommend to the government regarding this. The Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunization (JCVI) did not recommend it last month and said it was still assessing the benefits and risks of the vaccine (Britain Vaccination Drive). If a decision is taken on this soon, then about 14 lakh teenagers will get the benefit. But it is not clear yet when the vaccine will start.
At present, the vaccine is being given only to children above the age of 12, who are suffering from other diseases or who are at high risk of getting COVID-19. But many countries, including the US, Canada and France, are routinely vaccinating people 12 years of age and older (Britain’s Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation). According to the BBC report, sources associated with Whitehall said that it is expected that ministers in England will accept the advice of the Joint Committee. After which it can be announced by Wednesday.
Hope to get advice from JCVI soon
Earlier, Scotland’s First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said on Tuesday that she was looking forward to getting advice from the JCVI on the vaccination of 16 and 17-year-olds (Britain Covid Vaccination Status). He also said that the fourth Chief Medical Officer of Britain has written a letter to JCVI in this regard and has sought advice from him regarding the vaccination of youth. Another minister said that an announcement will be made about this soon and people will know everything.
Children recover from infection in less time
However, new research has found that children who have been infected with the corona virus have recovered in less than a week. According to NHS figures, 223,755 children up to 18 years of age across England have been vaccinated as of 25 July (Britain Vaccination Drive). But it has already been announced that children up to the age of 18 will be eligible for the vaccine only if they have health problems, live with someone with a low immune system, or their 18th birthday is approaching. But whatever decision will be taken, it will be taken only on the basis of the recommendation of JCVI.
