Washington. US President Joe Biden has said that if Russian military units cross the border with Ukraine it will be considered an “attack” and Russia will have to pay a “heavy price”. The US Treasury Department on Thursday imposed new sanctions on some people who are accused of helping Russia attack Ukraine.
“This action was part of our long-running efforts to counter Russia’s influencing network and expose its dangerous and current campaign to destabilize Ukraine,” White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said. ” In response to a question, Saki said, “These people were part of Russia’s destabilization campaign in Ukraine. We stand with the government of Ukraine.” They said they are watching what Russia is doing and then we stop it.
After this, Biden told reporters, “I have made it clear to Russian President Vladimir Putin … if Russian units cross the border with Ukraine, it will be considered an invasion.” This will have serious and coordinated economic implications, which I have discussed at length with my colleagues and have clearly conveyed to President Putin.”
“There should be no doubt that if Putin takes this step, Russia will pay a heavy price,” the president warned. Biden emphasized that he is ready to take action against cyber attacks, “grey-zone” attacks and acts of Russian soldiers not wearing their uniforms. He alleged that Russia has a long history of using measures other than direct military action to invade.
