Thousands of latest anti-tank weapons can be delivered to the British Army after a number of the UK’s stockpiles of the weapons had been donated to Ukraine.
Defence Secretary Ben Wallace introduced {that a} £223m deal has been agreed with Saab, a Swedish producer, for Next Generation Light Anti-Tank Weapon (NLAW) methods to be assembled.
Mr Wallace mentioned the weapons have performed a “decisive role” in supporting the Ukrainian military’s try at pushing again towards Russia‘s invasion.
“Working with our first-class industry partners, we are continuing to fulfil our commitment to NATO by ensuring our Armed Forces will receive a steady supply of these weapons over the coming years, whilst supporting UK jobs across the length and breadth of the country,” he continued.
The NLAW is is a shoulder-launched missile system that may be operated by a single soldier. They can be assembled on the Thales’ facility in Belfast, Northern Ireland earlier than being delivered to Britain.
Secured by means of the Ministry of Defence’s (MOD) procurement arm, Defence Equipment and Support, a number of hundreds of models can be delivered to the armed compelled UK throughout 2024-2026, along with 500, equipped by means of a separate procurement, that can be delivered in 2023.
