America said that the option of air strike will be open (US Troops Withdrawal From Afghanistan) – symbolic picture
In view of the withdrawal of US military forces from Afghanistan, a top US commander will hand over his responsibilities to another officer at a ceremony in the capital Kabul on Monday. This ceremony will take place amid the rapid spread of the Taliban. General Scott Miller may transfer his authority to the head of US Central Command, Marine General Frank McKenzie.
A US official gave this information on the condition of anonymity. McKenzie will oversee operations from Central Command’s headquarters in Tampa, Florida. He will assume responsibility for possible air strikes to protect Afghan forces until at least August 31 until the complete withdrawal of US troops.
Afghan government soldiers retreating
The power transfer ceremony at the heavily guarded Resolute Support headquarters in the heart of Kabul will take place at a time when the Taliban is increasingly taking control of several areas in Afghanistan. Afghanistan’s national defense and security forces, mainly funded by the US and NATO, have stepped up operations in some parts of the country, but Afghan government troops appear to be withdrawing from the ground.
The Taliban have gained control over the past few weeks in several strategic districts, notably those bordering Iran, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan. The Taliban control more than a third of Afghanistan’s 421 districts and district centres. However, the Taliban’s claim that they have captured 85 percent of the districts appears to be an exaggerated claim.

Hassan Rezai, a member of the provincial council of Ghazni, said that the situation in Ghazni city is very serious.
