At the Bab-al-Hawa crossing on the Turkey-Syria border, there is a huddled mass of the determined and displaced.

Everyone seems to be shell-shocked.

There are nonetheless miraculous tales of survival, even in Syria.
In Aqrabat Hospital in Idlib, two-year-old Arslan from Halam is having surgical procedure to avoid wasting his leg. He is the only real survivor in his household, pulled from deep rubble, cradled by his father who protected him to the tip.
The medical doctors on the hospital are overwhelmed, exhausted and in pressing want of extra medical help. Syria, residence to a forgotten battle, is now wrestling with a catastrophe it is woefully under-equipped to handle.
