According to a report by Geo News, about 1100 corona patients need oxygen in hospitals, while 250 patients are on ventilators. The head of Mayo Hospital said that if oxygen cylinders were not supplied, the situation could be catastrophic.
Dr. Asad Alam, Chief Executive Incharge of Coronavirus Ward of Mayo Hospital, said, “The situation is getting worse and hospitals are using the existing oxygen.” But if the oxygen cylinders are not supplied in the coming time, then the situation can be very serious. At the same time, in many hospitals, patients were seen counting their last breaths without oxygen supply on ventilators. According to the report of Geo News, due to the demonstrations of a religious party in Pakistan, the roads were blocked, due to which there is no supply of oxygen in the government hospitals of Lahore.
Minister appealed to protesters to clear the way
At the same time, Pakistan Punjab Health Minister Dr. Yasmin Rashid and Health Secretary Nabil Awan appealed to the protesters to cooperate with the authorities and clear the roads. He told the protesters that oxygen cylinders would be supplied to hospitals due to their removal from their paths. Earlier on Monday, Pakistan had the highest number of deaths from Corona on a single day this year. Altogether 114 people lost their lives due to Corona.
Thoughts on implementing lockdown
Pakistan’s Punjab province is badly affected by Corona. In such a situation, the authorities are considering implementing a lockdown of one or two weeks in many major cities of the province including Lahore. Currently, markets have been ordered closed after 6 pm to control the infection. Corona investigation report of about 35 teachers in the schools of Sahiwal district came positive, after which the Sahiwal commissioner has recommended the closure of schools in Okara and Sahiwal.
