After capturing the border with Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, this is the third border captured by the Taliban in the last one week. This action by the Taliban comes at a time when President Joe Biden has said that the US military mission in Afghanistan will end on August 31. The Taliban victory has forced some countries to close their consulates in Afghanistan. At the same time, Tajikistan has ordered to increase surveillance on the border with Afghanistan.
Afghan soldiers fleeing Iran leaving their positions
An Afghan official said the Taliban captured the Islam Kala crossing point in western Herat province on Thursday. An official present in Herat gave this information on the condition of anonymity. According to Iranian media reports, Afghan soldiers fled their positions in the border area of Islam Art and went to seek refuge in Iran. Islam Art Afghanistan and Iran is a major transit route. The crossing is about 120 kilometers (75 mi) west of the provincial capital city of Herat.
Taliban confirms capture of Islam art
Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid confirmed the capture of Islam Kala and tweeted that Taliban fighters had entered the city of Islam Kala. The local residents have given him a warm welcome. The Mujahid also posted a video in which Taliban fighters were seen riding behind trucks in Islamic art and shooting in the air in celebration. Taliban terror in Afghanistan has increased since the withdrawal of US and NATO troops. So far 90 percent of American troops have been withdrawn.
