Sir Keir Starmer will lose the overall election marketing campaign “on day one” until he shifts his place on transgender rights, celebration strategists have warned.
Advisers have been telling the Labour chief since late 2021 to “deal with” the difficulty and clarify to voters that “self-ID is not going to happen”.
Sir Keir’s place has developed in latest days. At an occasion in Stoke-on-Trent on Thursday, he mentioned: “I think that if we reflect on what’s happened in Scotland, the lesson I take from that is that if you’re going to make reforms, you have to carry the public with you.
