Karachi: A Hindu businessman in Pakistan was allegedly shot dead by some members of the Dahar community in Sindh province over a land dispute. This information was given in a media report. The newspaper ‘Express Tribune’ told in its news that businessman Satan Lal was shot dead on Monday in Ghotki district. This incident of murder led to protests in several towns of the district. A large number of people blocked the national highway to protest against Lal’s killing.
According to the news, after these sit-in demonstrations, the police arrested Bachal Dahar and his associates accused of killing Lal. Earlier, the local people had also demonstrated in front of Daharki police station demanding the arrest of the accused. Deputy Inspector General of Police Sukkur said the accused have been arrested and the protesters blocked the highway. Dahar is a caste in Sindh. People of this caste live in many areas of the province including Ghotki.
The news quoted Lal’s friend Mukhi Anil Kumar as saying, “There was an inauguration ceremony of cotton factory and flour mill on Satan Lal’s land, during which some people shot and killed Lal.” “We first thought that shots were fired in the air to welcome Seen Sadharam Saheb, a religious leader of the Dahar community,” he said.
