A grandfather has instructed of his shock at discovering a reside snake in a bunch of broccoli he says he bought from an Aldi retailer.
Neville Linton, 63, described discovering the reptile, which was later recognized as a ladder snake, as a “frightening” expertise.
The father-of-three stated he purchased the broccoli at an Aldi department in Stourbridge within the West Midlands.
When taking it out of his fridge to organize a meal, he discovered the non-venomous snake nestled in close to the stem.
“It was pretty frightening. I’m not good with snakes,” Mr Linton, from Birmingham stated.
“It’s lucky I didn’t just leave the broccoli out in the kitchen, or it would have been loose in the house.
“That would have been an enormous danger for us as a result of we have now two susceptible individuals dwelling right here.”
The snake was later taken to Dudley Zoo.
Following the incident, Mr Linton stated he has been provided compensation, however is pushing for extra.
He stated the quantity provided doesn’t compensate him for the danger to his disabled son and susceptible mother-in-law, who each reside with him.

A spokesperson for Aldi instructed Sky News: “Our supplier has never had a complaint of this nature and has robust processes in place to prevent such issues occurring.
“We are investigating this remoted incident and have apologised to Mr Linton that our regular excessive requirements weren’t met.”
The ladder snake is native to south west Europe together with Portugal, Spain and southern France. Although the species shouldn’t be venomous, it can provide a severe chunk.
